Modern, Minimalist Style Shines at This Wedding on Detroit's Belle Isle

With a background in merchandising and visual displays, Kari Worges (36 and a store director) had a vision in mind for her wedding to Anthony Urbina (36 and a software developer). With assistance from a slew of local vendors, she created a minimalist bohemian design. “It was an honor to have such talented artists and friends be a part of one of the biggest days of our lives,” Kari says. From terra cotta place cards and a sculptural cake to eye-catching florals, the end result was a modern scene fit for a very cool pair.
Kari and Anthony held their first look over cocktails at their favorite downtown Detroit spot, Queens Bar. “It was the perfect way to kick off the festivities,” Kari says.
Bite-sized arrangements of dahlias, phlox, cosmos, baby’s breath and pampas grass lined the center of the reception tables. Post-ceremony, Kari changed into a gold fringe dress, and both the newlyweds swapped their dress shoes for sneakers.
Guests spent the evening dancing on a patio, which overlooked the conservatory grounds. “We loved that guests could enjoy the summer evening,” Kari says.
