Organic Bohemian Wedding at Cafe Berlin in Columbia, Missouri

Adrienne Smith (26 and a project manager) and Derek Kratzer (26 and a shipping manager) wanted their wedding to be two things: intimate and unique. Adrienne says that after they chose Cafe Berlin in Columbia, Missouri—their favorite brunch spot—as their reception venue, the rest fell into place. "We had always talked about wanting breakfast food for dinner at our wedding," Adrienne says. As for decor, they drew upon their natural, simple aesthetic and affinity for earthy colors to create an organic, bohemian vibe for their day. In keeping with their there, the couple were married in a wide-open field on the grounds of Serenity Valley Winery in Fulton, Missouri. Derek used fallen tree limbs to build the arbor, which linen draping and vibrant arrangements turned into an eye-catching focal point for the tented ceremony. Adrienne worked with her florist to make sure the florals matched the unfussy, bohemian look she was after, and the results, she says, far exceeded her expectations. Bright, cheery bunches of roses, anemones, greenery and berries contrasted perfectly against the rural landscape. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a breakfast feast of biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, sauteed vegetables, roasted potatoes and a made-to-order omelet station. "All their food is sourced locally, and we received so many compliments on how much everyone enjoyed the dinner," Adrienne says. Cafe Berlin's eclectic decor meant the couple needed to add little to the space, save for a few DIY arrangements of craspedia and baby's breath tucked into vintage bottles. —Meghan Overdeep
