A Whimsical Farm Wedding in the Berkshires at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center
Grad students Emily and Tyler first met while working on a Jewish organic farm for a summer. Five years later, they returned to the same Berkshires retreat for their wedding weekend with friends and family. “We hiked, kayaked, toured the farm, did yoga and had a bonfire with our guests,” Emily says. The celebration itself was rustic and whimsical, with flower boxes lining the aisle, a bright color palette inspired by dahlias and a sustainable kosher menu.
Emily carried geranium foliage and a variety of colorful dahlias. Emily’s tulle gown had a lace top with floral appliqués. “I chose it because I loved how it twirled,” Emily says.
During the reception, Emily and Tyler served butternut squash lasagna and braised ribs with plum and cherry pepper bomb glaze. All the meals vegetables were grown on-site. As a nod to the farm setting, seed packets hanging from chicken wire directed guests to their tables. The couple didn’t want to leave the dance floor to cut a cake, so they let guests help themselves to pies, brownies and berries.
As for decor, greenery-covered gold hoops and white lanterns hung from the tent and completed the rustic yet romantic vibe.
