This Couple Got Married in a Park in Miami, Florida

For Marieli and Albert, comfort was key when it came to planning their DIY wedding. “We both wanted something outside, where we feel most at home,” Marieli says of her barefoot brunch celebration. During the ceremony, the couple, who met when they were 11 and 13, performed a feet washing unity ritual before releasing 65 monarch butterflies “as a symbol of our new life together and the next chapter,” Marieli says. “Not many people are lucky enough to meet their soulmate at such an early age,” Marieli told Albert during their vows. “If I was certain about anything, it’s that it would be you.” The couple incorporated white blooms throughout the day, from the bride’s bouquet to the hanging carnation installation. Guests dined on chicken and freshly made waffles at long wood tables set with gold chargers and centerpieces filled with white hydrangeas, baby’s breath and seeded eucalyptus. The vanilla cake was decorated with fresh white roses and baby’s breath.
