Pi Day-Inspired Dessert Reception

With a guest list pushing 500, Elizabeth and Micah decided to get creative with the format of their reception. Instead of a traditional dinner, they opted for a laid-back afternoon dessert reception, which not only cut down on costs, but also required less space, meaning for room for guests to move around. Since the wedding date fell on 3/14/15 (the digits of Pi), Elizabeth and Micah thought it would be fun to go with a pie theme for dessert. “Since we’d both been living on our own for a while, we didn’t need as many traditional wedding registry items as other couples,” says Elizabeth. “In lieu of gifts, we asked some of our friends and family if they would bring their favorite pie or dessert to the reception. We ended up with the most mind-blowing assortment of delicious homemade desert I’ve ever tasted!” As a nod to one of their first dates at a local coffee shop, the couple hired LaVita Espresso to serve up palette-pleasing espresso drinks for guests to enjoy alongside their pie.
