Piper & Jim: A Formal Wedding in Henderson, NV

Though Piper and Jim had worked for the same company for several years, they’d never gone beyond some random 'hellos' and shy smiles from time to time, Jim remembers. Eventually, their paths crossed at a work party. We found that beyond a definite attraction, we had a lot in common, Jim says. Soon, the two were an item. The Bride Piper Murray, 25, merchandise planner The Groom Jim Wright, 28, merchandise planner The Date October 8 Once Jim had the engagement ring in hand, he planned to wait to propose to Piper -- but it turned out, he hardly could! She’d been away on a trip, which deferred him for two days, but the day she returned, he headed over to her apartment. Early in our relationship I had asked Piper to dance one night in her kitchen, so again the night of the proposal I asked her to dance, Jim says. While the couple slow-danced to Ronan Keating’s When You Say Nothing At All, Jim got down on one knee and asked Piper to marry him. She was so surprised all she could do was nod her head emphatically yes! he recalls.

The groom’s love of golf was incorporated throughout the wedding weekend, which included a golf tournament for guests. The escort cards and table numbers were made to look like putting greens, and dessert included a golf-themed groom’s cake.
Naturally, Piper and Jim shared their first dance to Ronan Keating’s “When You Say Nothing At All,” the song that was playing when Jim proposed. The couple worked with a dance instructor to choreograph their first dance.
Piper and Jim wanted to plan a fun destination wedding that would make a great getaway for their friends and families. Piper’s parents, who had vacationed at Lake Las Vegas, suggested it for the wedding. “It had everything we were looking for -- endless sunshine, great golf, restaurants, and shops, and of course all the diversions and nearby attractions Las Vegas is famous for,” the bride says. Guests were welcomed to their Vegas vacations with gift baskets that included mini bottles of champagne, chocolate dice, and Vegas-themed playing cards.
Playing up their location, Piper and Jim chose a palette of desert hues -- sage green, chocolate brown, and pale peach. Piper’s four bridesmaids wore strapless, satin tea-length dresses in taupe with champagne-colored sashes by Bill Levkoff.
