Retro Poolside Wedding at the Movie Colony Hotel in Palm Springs, California

Tory Black (27, in marketing) and Kyle Smithe (28, in sales and training) met at a college house party and instantly became inseparable. After doing long distance for almost eight years, the couple decided to move in together in Long Beach, California and half a year later, Kyle proposed after a romantic dinner cruise on the Queen Mary. One of the couple’s favorite vacation spots was Palm Springs, which inspired Cory and Kyle to have a wedding in the desert at the Movie Colony Hotel. The retro-vibe of Palm Springs combined with the couple’s love for all things organic and neutral created a unique experience for all guests. Burlap and earthy greens accented the venue space with a intricate ribbon backdrop and ribbon runners that decorated the reception tables. With a guest list of 80, the couple was able to create a day solely focused around their relationship that was being shared with their close family and friends. “Our goal throughout the wedding planning process was to create an event that was special, casual, and unique to us and our relationship,” says Cory. “By keeping our guest list short and personalizing nearly every detail, we were able to achieve that!”
