Romantic Spring Wedding at Majestic Yosemite Hotel in Yosemite National Park, California
Although they grew up 20 minutes from each other in Northern California, Lauren Tracy (29 and a plastic surgery resident) and Mike Daly (32 and an orthopedic surgery resident) didn't meet until medical school in Newport Beach, California, where they started as roommates! A few years later, Mike proposed on the beach in the same sport where they met for the first time. When it came time for the busy med students to plan their wedding, they decided on the beautiful Majestic Yosemite Hotel in Yosemite National Park, California, for its incomparable views of El Capitan and Yosemite Falls. "Because this was an outdoor wedding surrounded by the natural beauty of Yosemite, we tried to go with a traditional but relaxed look," Lauren says. Even the couple's signature cocktail, the "El Capitini," a martini served with a rock climbing carabiner and an orange peel tied in a climbers knot, paid homage to the day's setting. As for the colors, Mike and Lauren settled on a classic purple and gold palette inspired by their stationery suite. "We loved the look of the gold-foil-embossed paper in deep-purple-lined envelopes," Lauren says. The bride wore a blush-colored dress that picked up the natural light of the Yosemite Valley, which she accessorized with an elbow-length veil made by her cousin. And because Mike is allergic to certain flowers, he and his groomsmen donned purple fabric boutonnieres pinned to their lapels. —Meghan Overdeep
