The Barn at Blue Bell Farm in Missouri Set the Scene For This Couple's Garden-Inspired Wedding
Nature was a must for Janet Lee (26 and a graphic designer) and Brad Stewart’s (28 and a marketing manager) wedding. The pair got engaged during a picnic in the woods on their property, so an equally romantic, earthy wedding day followed their proposal’s lead. Brad “surprised me with an aquamarine solitaire,” says Janet of her engagement ring, which inspired the wedding palette. Inspired by the rolling hills of the French countryside, the couple filled their day with lots of peonies and candlelight, while allowing the venue’s rustic beauty to shine through.
The dress Janet ended up falling in love with looked nothing like the inspiration she began her search with. “This was a great lesson for me about trusting your stylist. They know what they’re doing and they have great taste,” she says.
Following a farm-to-table dinner, guests enjoyed a slice of white chocolate strawberry pie, among other flavors at the dessert pie bar. As a graphic designer, Janet was eager to handle her wedding stationery herself. For the invitations, cards depicting an illustration of the venue were enclosed in vellum envelopes. To keep the vellum notes going, place cards utilized the translucent material before getting a wax seal finish.
