The reception was held at the Hickory Street Studio, a renovated warehouse loft with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown Dallas. The flicker of hundreds of tea lights created a warm and intimate scene, complementing tables adorned in palace vases with white calla lilies and bear grass or frosted hurricanes hand-painted by the groom's sister. The Bulletproof Brass, an eleven-piece band with horn section, started the evening with jazz standards during dinner, and later kicked things into high gear with popular R&B, big band, and funk. They played everything from the Temptations to Michael Jackson to Van Morrison to Barry White, says Melanie, who chose Unforgettable for her first dance with Steve. We had the band and the loft booked until midnight -- and we stayed on the dance floor until the very last minute! As the hour hand approached twelve, the band played New York, New York and the guests all joined together in a kick line to close out the night.
