This At-Home Microwedding Blended Cape Cod Tradition with Gatsby-Inspired Art Deco Vibes

Once the COVID-19 pandemic made it clear that Maura and Bill's wedding in the San Francisco Bay area would no longer be feasible, the couple pivoted their wedding plans to host an intimate celebration at home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Within three short months, the duo's pandemic-friendly outdoor nuptials came to life. The vision for Maura and Bill's nuptials has been "art deco speakeasy" when northern California was initially part of the plans. Once they shifted the wedding to the east coast the couple altered their theme while still nodding to art deco with a "Gatsby garden feel" with a color palette of white, silver and Cobalt blue. To infuse the Gatsby-inspired nuptials with personalization the couple included bagpipers as a nod to their Irish heritage, Adirondack chairs to celebrate the locale and masks for guests made from remnants of Maura's dress to keep everyone safe. Cape Cod and "The Great Gatsby" may not initially seem like they go together, but Maura and Bill's effortless reception decor is a masterclass in blending the two divergent aesthetics. Blue hydrangea blooms and white draping feel decidedly nautical while chandeliers, silver bar fronts and shimmery linens nod to F. Scott Fitzgerald's tome.
