With Genesis Rostro (25 and a social work caseworker) being Mexican and John Pathak (30 and an architect) Nepali, they “wanted to incorporate both cultures in an honoring and unique way. We call it Mexipali! We enjoyed a little bit of mariachi music while spinning in our beautiful saris,” Genesis says. To honor Nepali tradition, Genesis purchased a custom lengha on the very trip that their Himalayan sunrise proposal took place. And as a nod to Mexican culture, picado banners adorned the cake. The couple also included a foot-washing ritual, communion, unity ceremony and Nepali Khadah scarf ritual in their wedding ceremony. As for the day's color scheme, joy inspired the couple’s palette. “I wanted all the vibrant colors! I wanted guests to feel joy and excitement,” Genesis shares.
