This Wedding at Camden County Boathouse in New Jersey Had All the Colors of the Rainbow

Before they even met, Michele DePasquale (32 and a teacher and coach) unknowingly made a housewarming gift for her future wife, Amy Schimmel (29 and a social worker). While Amy was buying a home, her realtor commissioned Michele to make a piece of art with the words “today is a good day for a good day” to give Amy as a closing gift. That artwork sparked a romance between the two and the phrase came to hold even more meaning once they celebrated their “Sunday Funday”–themed wedding. “Amy’s only design directive was lots of color,” says Michele of their prismatic celebration. “We wanted it to feel like a real celebration of our love and family.” The colorful day included a rainbow cake topper, masks the couple tie-dyed with their nephew and plenty of bright blooms.

The couple's wedding at Camden County Boathouse in Merchantville, New Jersey, was filled with personalization. “The day felt like us through and through,” shares Michele. “We had Pa’s wine as part of the escort card display, our dogs on the bar menu and my grandfather’s Bronze Star on my bouquet. Our loved ones were around us all day long.” As for their rescue-pup-inspired signature sips, Amy’s drink was “The Toby,” a mojito, and Michele’s was “The Bronn,” a spiked Arnold Palmer. The wine favors were especially meaningful to the couple. "On our first date, Michele came over with a bottle of her dad’s wine. We sat on my sofa for hours getting to know each other. Having her dad make us a special wedding blend was such an act of love," says Amy. Additionally, Not only did David Rose’s vows from the show inspire Michele’s promises to Amy, but the couple also danced (twice!) to “A Little Bit Alexis” during their reception.
