Yellow and Orange Filled This Jewish-Persian Fusion Wedding at The LINE Hotel in Washington, DC

For their Jewish-Persian fusion wedding that The LINE Hotel in Washington, DC, Nina and Michael selected a vibrant, joyful color palette filled with bright shades of red, yellow and orange. “We wanted the day to be warm, colorful, fun, and perfectly imperfect. We wanted bright, groovy colors to play off the 60s/70s vibes of The Line. We didn't want anything too mundane, clean, or stuffy like so many DC weddings—we wanted more Adams Morgan and less Capitol Hill,” shares Nina.

Since The LINE hotel is known for its distinct, eclectic decor, the couple made sure to plan their wedding design to complement the existing aesthetic of the space. “We were lucky to have so many great pieces at The LINE already,” notes Nine. “We really just played into the vibe of the hotel by bringing in a lot of orals and candles to make it romantic, but still fun and groovy.” Florals played a critical role in bringing Nina and Michael’s vision for their Washington, DC, wedding to life. “The florals were, probably, the most important design element in our wedding,” recalls Nina. “We used corals as a way to incorporate a variety of bright colors that goes back to the ‘perfectly imperfect’ look. We placed an emphasis on bright orange to lean into the 60s/70s vibe of the hotel.”

Something that sets The LINE hotel apart is the venue’s rooftop that boasts epic views of the monuments on The National Mall. To capitalize on the sweeping views, Nina and Michael decided to have their first look on the hotel’s rooftop. However, their special moment went slightly awry when the wind almost took Nina’s veil. Thankfully, all was well in the end and the couple looks back on the rooftop start to their wedding day fondly. “One of our favorite moments was during our first look when my veil flew off my head and off the Line’s rooftop, only to be saved by a bridesmaid with an exceptionally long wingspan,” shares Nina.

Nina’s veil complemented the sleek, timeless wedding dress she chose for the occasion. “I wanted something timeless, yet edgy. The classic satin material, sweetheart neckline, and A-line cut made the dress I settled on both classic and beautiful. The ingenious ruching detail and a dramatic front slit made the dress edgy and noteworthy. Being 5 foot 1, I couldn't go too crazy with the dress so played up the shoes wearing rhinestone embellished pumps that were showcased thanks to the slit in the dress,” she explains.

Following the first look, the couple exchanged vows with a wedding ceremony that blended both Jewish and Persian traditions. To make the ceremony even more meaningful, the couple selected a childhood friend to serve as the officiant presiding over the vow exchange. “The most special moments were during the ceremony. We walked down the aisle to our two best friends from high school playing guitar and we were married by our other high school best friend who made the ceremony intimate-yet-light and funny at the same time,” shares Nina.

After the couple tied the knot, guests were invited to the rooftop for cocktail hour where a black acrylic sign gave them their table assignments. Then everyone decamped to the ballroom for a seated dinner before digging into the couple’s vibrant yellow wedding cake. And to cap off the beautiful Washington, DC, wedding celebration, a live band beckoned guests to the dance floor. “The band was absolutely incredible. To this day, people still bring up their amazing energy and talent,” says Nina. “The reception and the dance floor would not have been the same without them. We lost count of the number of people who came up to us and said ‘that was the best wedding band we have ever seen.”’
