Vintage Glam Winter Wedding at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Six years after they started dating as sophomores at Penn State, Julia Goggins (27 and a graphic design student) Kyle Paret (27 and an industrial engineering doctoral student) tied the knot in a one-of-a-kind winter wedding at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. "I see our wedding style as a sort of metaphor for our relationship: a blending of opposites," Julie says. "Kyle is 6-foot-5 and a practical, logical engineer with a surprising creative streak. I reach 5-2 and am a creative type, but with an analytical, problem-solving mind-set. We are opposites, but at the same time, not. And this is where I started with our theme: a blend of traditional elements for my sentimental groom, but with a little bit of something fun and different to satisfy me." Inspired by their venue and the ballroom's black-and-white floor in particular, a vintage glam theme arose. A timeless color scheme of blush, muted sage, ivory, champagne and gold tied it all together—from the invitations to the gold sequin bridesmaid dresses. Julia's favorite part was her bespoke pink suede Emmy London shoes, which included an art deco-inspired fan composed of crystal and pearls and a delicate gold trim. "Don't get me wrong, I loved my dress," she says. "But for me, my wedding attire was all about the shoes." —Meghan Overdeep
