Some love stories begin with sparks and grand gestures.

Ours started with scrubs, study notes, and a whole lot of coffee.

The moment our eyes met was at a nursing scholarship award ceremony at Huntington Hospital. DJ spoke with sincere gratitude and unwavering confidence, while Aimee, overcome with emotion, quietly shed tears of appreciation and honor.

We didn’t realize we would cross paths again until nursing school skills day in Santa Ana, CA.

When we locked eyes, Aimee instantly said,

“Wait… I know you!”

DJ exclaimed,

“Oh yeah, you’re the girl who cried.”

We both laughed and exchanged phone numbers. Soon, text messages turned into study dates — and those study dates blossomed into love.

We discovered shared passions, common dreams, and a connection deeper than anything we’d ever known. What we didn’t realize then was that we had been living parallel lives all along. Working night shifts at the same hospital, living in the same city—just missing each other by a shift, a moment, or a few steps. But fate had its plan, drawing us together through nursing school.

After countless Starbucks study dates, late-night talks, and endless texts, our friendship grew into something beautiful and rare. We found each other at exactly the right time, as if our hearts were meant to meet. Like two souls finally coming home. It truly felt like it was written in the stars.

On our favorite date, 12/16 2019, we said “Yes” to being a couple. We wrote our first vows and shared them with one another. Since then, DJ has poured his heart into handwritten love letters—meticulously crafted and beautifully designed. Aimee treasures each one in a special box, rereading them every anniversary.

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. From the uncertainties of COVID-19, putting ourselves and our families at risk, to the demanding pressure of nursing school. We have been each other’s greatest supporters every step of the way, lifting each other up during the toughest moments, celebrating every victory, and growing stronger together through every challenge life has thrown our way.

In February 2021, DJ asked Aimee to take the next big step and move in together. She said yes—knowing that this choice could either strengthen or test us. Five years and many shared memories later, our bond is stronger than ever. We even welcomed Mochi, our beloved cat, who has become the heart of our growing family.

After Aimee completed nursing school in 2024, DJ planned a quiet, intimate, and unforgettable proposal on December 25th—a moment overflowing with love, hope, and the promise of forever. Surrounded by the warmth of the season and the loving support of their families, Aimee said yes, and together, they began their beautiful journey of Forever.

Now, we can’t wait to celebrate our next chapter together with all of you.
