Where to Stay:

PLEASE READ: Sister Bay has a small town feel with no major hotel chains. We have outlined below some great options for your stay. If you choose Airbnb or any other location beyond those listed, please make sure that you are within walking distance of the Dorr Hotel or that you are comfortable driving to the weekend's events. While ubers/lyfts may be available, they are extremely limited - especially in the offseason. Also, Sister Bay has recently passed a "no overnight street parking" ordinance so keep that in mind when booking your stay if you will have a car. The Welcome Party, trolley transportation to/from Northern Haus (the wedding venue), and After Party, will all be located at/very close to the Dorr Hotel as a central location.

The Dorr Hotel is conveniently located in the center of downtown Sister Bay and will act as a central location for easy access to wedding events. Call the hotel and reference the Power-Carraher block to reserve.

The Dörr Hotel

Offers privately owned one to four bedroom condos for rent right on the water at just 2 minutes from the main strip in Sister Bay. Two night minimum stay required.

The Yacht Club at Sister Bay

The inn has a bed and breakfast feel with a unique English architectural design. There is no minimum stay (unless you book the Deluxe Suite) and rates begin at $135 a night. One of the cheapest options on the provided list.

Church Hill Inn

Of the suggested places to stay, this is the farthest away from our central hub of the Dorr Hotel (0.8 miles or a 17 minute walk). It is located only 0.4 miles from the Welcome Party location. The rooms here are quite nice and it has affordable rates as low as $135 a night.

Country House Resort

A less expensive, minimalistic option while remaining centrally located to the weekend's activities.

Airbnb is another great option in the area. However, please be sure that the airbnb location is close (read: walking distance) to downtown Sister Bay (think the Dorr Hotel) as ubers/lyfts are very hard to come by in Door County during "offseason." Transportation to and from the wedding venue will be provided and scheduled to depart from the Dorr Hotel or nearby location. If your Airbnb is located closer to Northern Haus or farther away from the Dorr Hotel, please be prepared to drive.

Sister Bay is roughly 4 hours and 15 minutes from Chicago by car. When you reach Sturgeon Bay, you have the option to take Route 42 or Route 57. We highly recommend you take Route 42 for a more scenic experience of Door County.

Flying

Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport

This airport is the closest to Door County. It is a 1 hour and 30 minute drive to Sister Bay, WI. Car rental agencies and Turo are available at the airport. Airport shuttle services are also available - see the Airport Transfers list below to schedule.

Appleton International Airport

This is the next closest airport and is a nearly 2 hour drive to Sister Bay, WI.

While our wedding weekend is located in Sister Bay, Door County has so much to offer throughout its various villages. We have outlined things to do/places to eat throughout Door County in case you have a car and time to explore. **We have tried to highlight only things that are open in the offseason, but please confirm that places are open before you venture out! Sister Bay Bowl & Supper Club

This is an old timey bowling alley with 6 lanes and self-scoring located right on the main strip of Sister Bay. We wanted to have our welcome party here but the space wasn't conducive to a wedding of our size, and Alison broke a nail. They are open until 2am and double as a dive bar!

Wild Tomato

This pizza place turns out some quality pies. We are obsessed with The Fun Guy! They have vegan cheese, vegan sausage, and gluten free crust for our friends with dietary needs. Be sure to both order and pick up from the Sister Bay location as there are multiple.

We loved the coffee so much that we got a second latte to go before leaving. Then we went back and got two the next day. They have plenty of veg friendly options for food!

Visit the flagship store of one of our favorite artists! We discovered her work on TikTok and were delighted to learn she is based in Door County! We have a special print in our home that is emblematic of our first dance song. Check her out! "Vicki creates stunning yet fleeting works of art made of bits of mother nature. Once her original is photographed, it’s recycled back into the earth."

Eagle Trail at Peninsula State Park

Largely considered the best hike in Door county. It does require a Wisconsin State Park pass - which I believe you can buy on site. Hit Eagles Tower at the start of the hike for beautiful views!

Blue Horse Beach Cafe

As you all know, we love a good coffee shop. We've tried a bunch of difference cafes around Door County and this one reigns supreme. The interior is adorable, the coffee is delicious, and right across the street is a perfect place to look out at the lake. Maisy wanted to add that they have a 10/10 pup cup that includes both whipped cream and bacon.

Fiddler's Farm

The Fiddler's Farm is dedicated to bringing Door County Wisconsin a&nbsp;quality, Branson Style music show! Wisconsin's best musicians come together in one place for a family friendly show in a barn over 100 years old! Here, you'll hear music from genres like&nbsp;Classic County, Bluegrass,&nbsp;Western swing, and even the occasional Irish Jig. Washington Island

Start with the 30-minute ferry ride across Death’s Door strait and drive your car or rent a bike or UTV to explore the island. You’ll find a few lodgings, restaurants, and food stops, but mostly you’ll find wide-open spaces perfect for biking, hiking, driving, and exploring. Don’t miss the smooth-stone Schoolhouse Beach, the lavender farm, or the rolling fields of green. If you have a whole day, hop a second ferry and explore incredible Rock Island State Park.

Washington Island State Ferry

Each ferry has ample deck space with open-air seating. A heated cabin on board provides shelter in bad weather and the winter. Photo opportunities abound on your trip through Death’s Door, so be sure to bring your camera! Northport Pier is located at 215 WI-42 Ellison Bay, WI 54210&nbsp;(i.e. at the end of Hwy 42). This is where visitors board the Washington Island Ferry to travel to Washington Island.
