Accommodations

Some notes about accommodations...

Downtown Breckenridge is pretty small and easily walked. That said, we have a few lodging options that are all in the same plaza area and a few that are a few blocks off. You can view where they all are on a map at the below link. Notes about each location will also be included in the sections below and the corresponding letter on the map is listed with each option below for your reference.

Breckenridge is a resort town. That means that most lodging options are actually condos with individual owners that rent through management companies. This basically means that some are brand new with fresh updates and some are a bit more dated. In almost all cases, the resort will automatically place you in more updated units, but it's probably not a bad idea to verbally request that as well.

Additionally, all secured rates are on a space available basis - there is no set block of rooms at any location. That said, there isn't much of a risk of missing out on housing given the time of year, but we recommend booking as soon as possible. At the time of the writing of this, our rates are the lowest, but we would also recommend doing a quick search on the google, kayak, VRBO, etc. before booking with our rates - you just never know!

Other great options for housing can be found in and around town. We recommend staying closer to Main Street for the best access to food and fun.

Travel and Transportation

To and From Denver International Airport (DIA)

There are plenty of cars to rent if you want full mobility once you get to Breckenridge. However, having a car is not necessary. We will be providing a shuttle to/from the reception and the hotels are all within walking distance of Main Street. We can carpool to activities outside of town (hikes, etc) for those interested. Bottom line, sometimes its nice to have your own wheels, but it is by no means necessary in Breckenridge.

Below you'll find airport shuttle details.

Colorado Mountain Express

Rates to Summit County start at $50.

Peak 1 Express

Hiking

Any form of exercise at altitude can be strenuous, I struggle walking up the stairs sometimes! Consider your fitness level and ability to cope with altitude before hitting the trails! Although we expect perfect weather all the time for our wedding, thunderstorms with lightning are common in the summer in the mountains. Consider starting your hike early (pre-dawn/dawn) and completing the hike before noon to avoid bad weather and lighting strikes. Be sure to carry lots of water, rain gear (just in case), snacks/lunch, sun block, a trail map, and anything else you think you will need to stay safe and happy on the trails. We have done some of the hikes, but not others, so consider the length and difficulty of the hike you choose. It's hard to find a hike where you won't spend at least part of the time walking up hill! This will become increasingly chellenging the higher you go, I know I struggle at anything above 12,000 feet, so if coming from sea level, this may be even more challenging.

There are over 450 miles of trail in Summit County alone! Friends of the Dillon Ranger District has a great site with lots of hiking options.

Colorado is home to 53 "14ers" (mountains with peaks above 14,000 feet). They are all very challenging hikes, but if interested, do you research on 14ers.com. Mt Quandry is convenient to Breckenridge, as well as Greys and Torres.

Hiking in Breckenridge - Breckenridge is home to many trails accessible from in town, click on this map for more details. Want to see waterfalls, these three hikes are worth considering, Anne and I have done McCoullough Gulch and Mohawk Lakes.
