Ashley's Story
As most know, Ashley is a very outgoing, loves meeting new people, can talk to anyone type of a person, EXCEPT when it comes to talking to guys. Yes, that's right Ashley was absolutely terrible at talking to guys that she has a "crush" on.
Summer of 2021, Ashley moved to the glorious state of Colorado in search of adventure, new experiences, fresh mountain air, and had dreams of finding her one true love (she had known for years that her person was not in Wisconsin).
Fast forward to May of 2022, Ashley's first year of teaching was coming to a close, she was excited about all the adventures that summer was going to bring.
Ashley was on again/off again on the dating apps, she really hated them and didn't see the point in them, but she knew that this is how people met each other in 2022. But damn was she picky, the amount of times she swiped left was about 95% of the time. She swiped left so much that she continuously would receive the error message of "there are no guys in your area that match your criteria, try expanding your search."
Ashley was fed up and ready to get off the apps again, and just go back to focusing on herself. When up popped Mike's Hinge profile. Now, Ashley had always had it in her mind that she wouldn't date a teacher, but she thought he was cute and liked his responses to the prompts. She figured she didn't have anything to lose so she responded to one of his prompts, and shot her shot. And to her surprise he wrote back.
Ashley and Mike messaged back and fourth for a few days, she even gave him her phone number without him asking. She was extremely interested in him, and even made remarks to her coworkers like "this is the type of guy you marry." As most online dating stories go, you talk for a few days and then no one ever actually meets - Ashley was tired of that happening so she took her fate into her own hands, and decided she was going to ask Mike out on a date. After a grueling F45 workout, she texted Mike and asked if he would like to go on a hike later that day. He very quickly agreed to go for a hike at Ute Valley with her after school.
Ashley was waiting in the parking lot for Mike, when he pulled up, he looked over and gave her "bug eyes." She laughed, got out and went to meet him. They gave each other the most awkward hug (butt out, kind of hug), and then proceeded on their hike. Ashley's couldn't really tell you much about what they talked about other than the fact that she babbled on and on because she was so nervous, and that Mike was super shy and barely talked. At the end of the date, the gave each other an even more awkward hug and went on their ways. Ashley's first impression was that Mike was a little boring, and really shy. She also had no idea if he was going to text her or even want to see her again, but she was hopeful he would. Shortly after she got home, she had a text from him saying that he really enjoyed their walk...
Mike's Story
Ashley came in to my life when I was least expecting it. I had downloaded hinge and made a profile. I had struck out a few times and thought it would never work. I stopped looking at it and was about to delete it when I got a notification that I got a message from a girl named Ashley. My profile said I was looking for someone who was smart, active, and funny. She commented and said she was “pretty smart, fairly active, and that her siblings don’t think she’s funny but that her students think she’s hilarious.” For some reason from the very start she was always very gentle with me and knew how to not overwhelm me. Because she’s VERY smart, VERY active, and her students were correct, she is hilarious. We messaged each other on hinge back and forth for a few days staying up way past our bed time of 8:00. I knew there was something special about her and couldn’t stop messaging her. A couple days later I tricked her into giving me her phone number by telling her I wanted to send her a gif but couldn’t do it on hinge. We continued texting and she asked me to go on a walk at Ute Valley Park after school. I obviously said yes. I’m very shy until I feel comfortable around you, so I’m glad that she “babbled” and carried the conversation. After I got home I immediately texted her.
Mike asked Ashley to marry him on Sunday, January 22nd 2023. He proposed on a bridge in Breckinridge Colorado, a day before his 30th birthday. Their good friend Lauren scoped out a spot and was secretly texting Mike all day. She even asked people to pose for her so that Mike knew exactly how and where to stand!
Ashley said yes!
