So… how did we meet? Well, it all started in January of this year on the most romantic place known to modern civilization… a dating app. Yes, really. I wasn’t even sure I wanted to be on it, but clearly God had other plans—and let me just say, He knew what He was doing!
Before we even met in person, Brandon and I were practically glued to our phones. I’m talking eight-hour FaceTime calls, 4+ hour phone calls every night, like it was our full-time job, and somehow—we never ran out of things to say. (Those who know me won’t be surprised at that but that’s impressive for someone who claims to be introverted. 😉) By the time our first date rolled around in February, I already knew. This man was different. He was it.
That first date? Magic. We kept looking at each other saying, “This is CRAZY!” Like, how is this real? How does it feel like I’ve known you my whole life? Who gave you permission to be this perfect for me?? And honestly, we haven’t stopped saying that since.
Every single day since then has just gotten better. It’s like everything in our lives—our families, our stories, our timing—has blended together so beautifully. There’s just no other way to explain it: God has had His hand in every part of this. He’s been orchestrating it all so perfectly, right on schedule (even when I was over here thinking He was late 🙃).
Brandon is everything I ever prayed for—and so much more. He’s steady, kind, sweet, charming, hilarious, handsome (like… seriously 😍), and loves the Lord in a way that inspires me daily. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life loving him, learning with him, laughing (a lot), and walking in step with the Lord together.
I am first going to say that I am not as good with words as Miranda is, and she can attest to that.
As Miranda said, we met in January on a dating app.. From the moment we matched I could tell she was different. Our icebreaker was our weight loss journeys, which coincidentally took place at the same facility almost 6 months apart. We quickly exchanged numbers to text and left the the dating app behind.
The first date Miranda spoke of I call the first “in-person” date because after 8hr FaceTimes and 4+hr phone calls, and feeling like I had known her forever, the first date was more of a formality than an actual first date. With all that said I was still nervous and Miranda could tell. She pulled out every excuse in the book for me to just hold her hands, even telling me her hands were cold so I would hold them to warm them up 😅
Our dates following the first date were more about just living life than dating. Whether it was trips to the zoo or just hanging out at home, everything was an adventure with family, friends, and our kids. Even our engagement was an in the moment, just living life, event and it couldn't have been more perfect for us!
I don't know whose prayer was answered but I am so thankful someone's was because I couldn't have asked for a better woman to spend the rest of my life with. She's smart, funny, kind, spiritual, absolutely beautiful, and loves my boys and I with all her heart!
I can't wait for our future adventures, watching our kids grow together, and just our everyday lives to come.
I love you, Miranda Shelby! ❤️
