Like true Millennials, we met on a dating app.

Steven and I both had, "Windows down, music up!" written on our dating profiles. When Steven swiped right on me, he opened up the conversation about how he thought he was reading his own profile when he came across my prompt. He followed that up with wanting to know what music I was blasting recently. That one question got us talking because I was days away from leaving for Stagecoach Music Festival!

A couple days went by messaging each other back-and-forth on the app when Steven asked when I was leaving for Stagecoach and if I was interested in grabbing tacos and margaritas on a patio somewhere beforehand. I quickly accepted and was excited to meet him in person!

Steven, the Texas gentleman he is, kindly asked to pick me up but I declined letting him know it's my personal first date rule for dating apps. He understood and I gladly drove to meet him there.

After parking, I vividly remember thinking to myself, "What if this is the last first date you ever go on, Caitlin?!" I was really hoping for that.

As I was walking up, I saw Steven waiting for me outside the restaurant on the corner of First and Brown Avenues in Old Town Scottsdale. I immediately noticed he was tall & very handsome. The conversation came so easy. Laughter and fireworks across the table the entire time!

It was a work night and we both had early mornings the next day. However, our dinner date went on for hours longer than I expected it to. We were really having a great time and I don't think either of us wanted it to end. Even my mom was calling worried I had been kidnapped! Ha!

At the end of our date, Steven walked me to my car and I remember emphasizing that I really enjoyed the night & hoped to see him again.

He text me to make sure I made it home safe and we later made plans to have a puppy date to introduce our dogs once I got back from Stagecoach. Dirk and Remi loved being included in our second date adventure! Every date after that got better and better. We both knew we were in trouble by our third date watching the sunset at Dobbins Lookout!

Eventually, I knew... Steven was my last first date.
