Jeff and Danielle met on the first Thursday of College Football Season in 2022. Danielle decided to go up to Kaleidoscope with her girlfriend, Jen to grab a drink and food and ring in the new football season. They were just excited that football was back - didn't care who was playing, just headed up to K-Pub as single ladies and sat at the bar.
On that same evening, Jeff has made a similar plan with his buddy. Danielle recalls, "Jeff was sitting at the corner of the bar waiting on his friend, and I took notice he was there. I remember thinking, okay, he's good looking, no ring on..."
Jeff's recollection: "I noticed Danielle and her friend walk in and I texted my buddy, 'dude, you gotta get up here, there are these 2 girls at the bar we have to talk to.'
Jeff and his friend eventually made their way over to Danielle and Jen, at the bar… One thing led to another and they started chatting each other up. Danielle and Jeff talked about their love for the Atlanta Braves (that game was on too) as well as the upcoming college football season, how they were both Georgia fans and of course Danielle's dog, Kirby.
Danielle recalls: “Jen was getting tired and I still had a glass of wine, so I told Jen I would finish my glass while talking to Jeff and head home after.”
That evening, Danielle and Jeff exchanged numbers and talked about maybe seeing each other later that weekend. Danielle had 2 friends coming in town, and they had plans to go to Hal's "The Steakhouse" the following night, so the next time they would likely get together would be Saturday at the Georgia vs. Oregon kick off game at The Benz.
Jeff has a specific fond memory of that night: After going our separate ways back to our respective houses, Danielle ended up sending a photo of her dog, Kirby eating carrots happily. In that moment Jeff thought, "I want to get to know this girl more."
The next day, Jeff texted Danielle and asked if she still had dinner plans with friends. Danielle replied, "Yes. No pressure, but we actually have a reservation for 4, and there are only 3 of us, if you want to come?"
Jeff replied, "Sure, I'm down to come" and they ended up meeting for a drink before at Iberico Pig in Buckhead. They had a great dinner at Hal's with Danielle's friends and decided to end the evening with a nightcap back at Kscope, where they met the night before. They both have fond memories of sitting at the end of the bar, talking about anything and everything that came up... and the night ended with a kiss.
Jeff had golf the next morning and was planning to try and make it down to the UGA game after... Danielle had 4 tickets to the game and had plans to go to the game with her dad and 2 friends. Before going to bed that night, Danielle and Jeff found themselves texting...
Danielle let Jeff know that her dad struggles with health issues from time to time and there's always a chance he may not want to go day of, and she would let him know if the ticket became available.
Sure enough, the next morning Danielle's dad called her and said he wasn't feeling well and asked if he didn't go, would she know someone that wanted the ticket. Danielle responded with "I actually think I do." Danielle reached out to Jeff, to let him know she had an extra ticket to the game. After a little bit of time, Jeff responded with, "Yes! I'm just finishing the round of golf and I'll meet you down at the tailgate before the game."
Jeff sat in horrible traffic to get down to the tailgate, but eventually he made it there just in time to get a couple beers and get thrown into a college game day with a few of Danielle's friends: Lauren, Angela, Ben and Bo. What a crew he got to meet, day 3! Trial by fire some may say...
Danielle and Jeff had such a fun time at the game, alongside many of Danielle's friends at the time (now also Jeff's good friends) that Saturday turned into Sunday, which turned into brunch and then dinner Sunday night... which turned into Monday. Before they knew it, they were 11 days into forever, and never looked back. Danielle and Jeff consider the night they first met, Sept 1, their anniversary because once they met... they were never not together.
Cheers to the Peterson's!
