Q + A

Will the venue be air conditioned?

YES!!! The venue for both the ceremony and reception have air conditioning - this was a nonnegotiable for the groom! Both are also handicap accessible.

What's the situation with the transportation?

The ceremony will be in the Trinity Chapel at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Turn off of Marsh Street onto Luther Drive - the chapel is on the left at the end of the street. There will be a sign for visitor parking near the chapel, and handicap parking will be in front of the chapel. The reception will be at Chankaska Winery in Kasota (between Mankato and St. Peter). It's an easy 15 minute drive from Bethany. We recommend taking Madison Avenue to Highway 22 for an easy drive over to Chankaska. The reception will take place in the event center (the building to the left of the tasting room). Parking is available in the main parking lot in front of the two buildings, or in the two overflow parking lots slightly closer to Highway 22. Where should we stay?

We have a hotel block booked in both Mankato and in St. Peter. See the "Travel" tab for more information.

Are kids invited?

Yes! We want everyone to celebrate with us!

Do I need to have an funny inspirational quote memorized and ready to write in the guest book?

We're going to have a Bible as a guest book, so you don't need to have a quote memorized but please have a favorite Bible verse in mind!

Who will I be sitting with?

There is no assigned seating at either the ceremony or the reception. The front row at the ceremony and a few tables at the reception will be reserved for close family.

How can we make Devin do dumb stuff?

The Klammers (Abby's moms side of the family) have a tradition where the bride is ankle-cuffed at some point during the reception. The groom then has to "buy" the keys so he can save his bride - but he has to do whatever the guests will pay him to do in order to buy the key! Be creative with what you want to have him do! Some things that grooms have done in the past include puppet shows, pushup contests, and the barrel roll.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ceremony to allow yourself enough time to park and make the short walk to the chapel. We want to make sure everyone is seated before the bride walks down the aisle!

What is the dress code?

Trinity Chapel and Chankaska Winery are both nice venues. Please dress appropriately for these venues, keeping in mind that the weather may be warm in July and there are outside areas at the reception if you chose to use them.

Will there be an open bar?

Wine and beer, along with soda and water, will be hosted, and a cash bar will be available for any other drinks.

Can I take my own photos?

We love our photographers. You will too. (We mean it. Love you.) We ask that you turn off your cell phones, cameras, and other devices for the ceremony. Please enjoy this special moment with us! Feel free to take all the photos you want before and after the ceremony! At the reception, we'll have QR codes to a Google Drive so you can share your favorite photos with us!

How late will the reception go?

The last call for drinks will be at 10:45 pm, and the venue will close at 11 pm.
