Elyssa and Ty met in the Spring of 2023 while coaching at the same JV boys track meet in League City, TX. Elyssa was a coach at Galveston Ball High School, while Ty a coach at Friendswood High School. Ty introduced himself, the two small talked for awhile, however he was unsuccessful in getting Elyssa’s name. They went their separate ways after the meet.

A few weeks later, Elyssa and Ty met again over the course of the three-day district track meet in Angleton, TX. After the last race on the last day of the meet, Ty finally got Elyssa’s name and asked her on a date.

Elyssa and Ty spent their down time together that summer, making the drives between Galveston and League City.

During the following 2023-2024 school year, one or the other would often make the drive after school to enjoy each other's company in the evenings. On the weekends, they loved going on runs together and cooking. Elyssa and Ty were also lucky to be able to spend time together while attending more of the same track meets in the spring.

On March 10, 2024, Ty treated Elyssa to a wonderful dinner and evening in Houston, where he asked her to marry him. She of course said YES!

Elyssa and Ty now both teach and coach at Friendswood High School, where they will continue to attend track meets together.
