You could spend days here. It's one of our favorite places on Earth. If you're looking to explore in your car, Skyline Drive is one of the most beautiful roads in the country. The Swift Run Gap entrance is closest to Madison.
If you're up for a challenge, try the hike we did when we got engaged! Take Staunton River Trail to Beach Church Rock. It's 8 miles out and back and takes about 5 hours. For a more leisurely stroll, you can just stay on Staunton River Trail. It's relatively flat and beautiful!
This is a short hike that Erin has been on more times than she can count with the summer camp she went to and worked at. It's a moderately difficult out-and-back trail that can be as long as you'd like! If you take Whiteoak Canyon Trail to the Lower White Oak Falls, it's 2.7 miles total.
More US presidents have come from Virginia than any other state. If you'd like to nerd out about it that any point throughout the weekend, Erin is available. Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and James Madison all lived in the area where we're getting married. All three houses are great to visit. Jefferson and Monroe were neighbors, you could easily do both in one afternoon.
Go Dukes, that's all.
A family favorite! Erin & her mom used to meet here while she was in college to catch up over a glass of wine and a game of Uno. The tasting room is stunning and it's located just a few miles from the wedding venue.
Yoder's is a country market with a great deli for lunch sandwiches! There's also a petting zoo if you're into that sort of thing...
The steak and cheese will change your life. It's owned by the same family who own the wedding venue!
