For over 50 years, we traveled our respective roads, individually navigating twists and turns & ups and downs. We each hit our share of bumps and potholes that left us effectively inoperable at times, but somehow, on June 3, 2022, our paths finally crossed.


Some ‘repairs’ were still underway and so we just became Facebook friends for the time being. For 9 months, we commented back and forth and messaged here and there on social media, until March 4, 2023, when we had the best first date ever. We had old fashioneds at a speakeasy, ate pizza rolls and drank ramen broth out of the same bowl, skipped down the sidewalk in Fountain Square and ended the night with a foot rub under the table at Hot Boys Chicken. We laughed the whole entire night.


Over the next few months, we got to know each other while trying new restaurants together around Indy. It was comfortable and relaxed but SO fun and exciting.


Safe but magical.


After a couple of months, it became clear that this was something special. We connected effortlessly on a deep level and there was no pressure to be someone or something that we weren’t. The more we were our authentic selves, the more we fell in love.


Kissing on bridges, walks in Franklin, cheeseburgers at The Grill Bar, pizza at The Willard, weekend getaways in Chicago and Madison, Indians games, pool days, Applebee’s, and summer concerts and festivals are all some of our favorite moments as a couple.


May 26, 2024, on the beach in Mexico, we got engaged.


The peace of mind that comes from knowing the other person has ‘got you’ has been one of the greatest gifts in this life. To feel seen, heard, valued and loved by each other has been better than any fairy tale. And even though it took over 50 years to find each other, we are so grateful that despite the wrong turns and detours we made, God eventually led us here.
