What part of Anchorage should we stay in?

How will we get around?
A car or truck will be the most reliable way to get around Anchorage for all your Alaskan adventures! Anchorage has nearly all the standard car rental companies - Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, Dollar, Budget, Enterprise, Alamo, and National, as well as locally owned companies like Alaska Auto Rental, Alaska 4x4 Rentals, and more independent rentals like Turo. Since you will be coming in May, prices should be lower than later in the season, but the earlier you book the better to get a good deal.
What is the weather like in Anchorage in late May?
May is known as the "shoulder season," of Alaska - it's starting to warm up into the 50's during the day, but still remains chilly at night. It's typically pretty dry compared to the rest of the year, but it would be a good idea to bring some warm layers and waterproof/windproof jackets/boots, etc., as it is still unpredictable.
What will the sunlight be like in Anchorage?
The sun will rise around 5am and will set around 11pm, so if you are sensitive to light, bring an eye mask for sleeping! It makes for great photos and late-night adventures, with beautiful sunsets to admire over the ocean.
