9 years ago, two university students hopped on a journey that would eventually intertwine in the most unexpected ways in the land of Saigon. One was a “boy phố” from Hanoi, and the other was a “học sinh ngoan” from Saigon somehow stuck together since the first day they met.
Our paths crossed at RMIT University, thanks to shared clubs, and the occasional subpar cafeteria meal. What started as friendly banter turned into study sessions and then endless debates over group assignments. Our biggest argument was over whether Pho should have bean sprouts or not. Spoiler: this is the only argument Kieu won.
Graduation threw us into the real world, where we faced the usual post-college challenges — job hunting, career changes, and the crushing reality of adult responsibilities. Through it all, we stayed by each other’s side, offering support during the lows and celebrating the highs.
Despite our different personalities— Hao with her hot-tempered and extroverted, while Kieu’s calm and introverted—we’ve found a way to complement each other. He knows how to bring her back to earth when she’s too fired up, and she knows how to drag him out of his zone when he needs it. It’s not always smooth sailing, but it’s our unique dynamic that keeps things interesting
To be honest, we don’t always see each other in the best light. In fact, most of the time, it’s the opposite. But through all the quirks and disagreements, what truly keeps us together is knowing that no matter what happens, we’ve got each other’s back.
For nine years, we’ve weathered every storm, celebrated every win, and grown both individually and as a couple. Our love story isn’t about grand gestures or fairy-tale romance; it’s about the everyday moments, the shared laughter, and the immense support we give each other.
Next year, we’ll be celebrating a decade together by saying “We do.” We’ve come a long way from those university halls, and we’re excited to start this new chapter. We hope you, our precious guest, can join us and celebrate this milestone with us.
