Our Story

Our Love Story

Isaiah and Abigail first met in 2021, forming a friendship that blossomed with time. As the years passed, that bond deepened, evolving into something truly special. In May of 2023, they chose to take a leap of faith and began a new chapter—one filled with love, growth, and shared dreams.

Just a year later, in June 2024, Isaiah proposed, and in a moment of joyful spontaneity, they eloped in a dear friend’s backyard on August 23, 2024. Their hearts simply couldn’t wait.

With the deepest love already sealed between them, they spent the remainder of the year thoughtfully planning a celebration to share their joy with the people who mean the most. Now, they invite you to join them in honoring the beautiful journey that brought them here.

Our Name Change: Why Hanami?

At first, Isaiah and Abigail followed tradition and took Isaiah’s family name. But after prayerful reflection, they felt called to choose a name that marked the beginning of their own story—a name that reflected not only who they are, but who they hope to become.

United by a shared love for Japan and a longing to one day serve there as missionaries, they chose a Japanese surname that speaks to both their hearts and dreams. “Hanami” (花海) means sea of flowers—a symbol of lush, expansive beauty. To them, it captures the spirit of their life together: vibrant, full of wonder, and deeply rooted in purpose and grace.

Hanami is more than a name—it’s a reflection of their hope to live lives that blossom with love, faith, and creativity, wherever they are called to go.
