As the "art and soul" of Columbus, the Short North is a vibrant cultural and business community. Shops selling records, streetwear, and vintage clothes are interspersed with coffeehouses, craft beer, and casual eateries. Great place to walk around!
Check out this artisan ice cream company! It started as a Columbus local scoop shop and now it’s in 12 states and DC. They’re always coming up with interesting flavors, like sun popped corn and everything bagel. Kat & Logan like gooey butter cake, Texas sheet cake, cream puff, and brambleberry crisp, but you can’t go wrong.
A 145-year-old vibrant public market made up of Ohio’s best independent merchants, farmers, and makers. While Westside Market in Cleveland is Logan’s favorite, this Columbus version is a bit tidier and a great place to go to sample some local cuisine and hang out.
Columbus’s oldest public park in the Victorian Village neighborhood features charming architecture, a view of the Columbus skyline, and a peaceful area to walk or run and enjoy the greenspace. There’s a pond in the middle of the park that Kat & Logan like to walk the dogs around. If you’re lucky, you’ll see the turtles sunning!
Located conveniently near the hotel, this craft brewery and restaurant has awesome beer. Logan & Kat think they do particularly well with their “breakfast-themed” beers (like Daybreak, a coffee vanilla cream ale), but they have a nice selection!
This “Hot Dog Palace” is a local gem! Any of their dogs can be made vegan or vegetarian and trust us- you have to try the fried leeks. It’s right next to 16-Bit Arcade Bar which features some interesting adult beverages (think Rocket Pops in a cocktail) and old-school arcade games at no charge.
Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, the Scioto Mile features 175+ acres of parkland, boulevards, bikeways, and pedestrian paths along the waterfront. Walk across the Rich St Bridge for a classic Columbus photo-op of the skyline and the deer sculpture! It’s especially pretty at dawn and dusk.
The Center of Science and Industry is a science museum and research center with experiential, hands-on learning. Kat & Logan like the rat basketball and life-size chess board, but there’s a lot to see here!
