Bryant and I met through mutual friends in May 2012 while he was stationed in Washington D.C. serving in the marines and we became fast friends, hanging out just about every weekend. It grew into something more when he asked me to be his girlfriend in January 2013. He was then stationed in North Carolina at Camp Lejune, while I remained at college at the University of Maryland. I went down to visit him in North Carolina on November 21, 2013 for the marine military ball. Little did I know that he had more planned for that day than I imagined. When I arrived in Wilmington, NC we went out to a small, local restaurant down by the beach. He could barely eat his lunch, which was odd because he usually always eats his food plus some of mine. After lunch we went down to the beach to take a walk since it was a beautiful 70 degree November day. I love to collect shells and do all sorts of crafts with them, so we were finding the most beautiful shells down there and he happened to pick one up and held it out in his hand. He said "hey look at this shell that I found," I looked at it from a few feet away and said "oh that's a good one, put it in your pocket." He looks at me and says "no really come look at this shell," I then said, "it's good just put it in your pocket." For the last time he says, "Kelsie come look at this shell" and I picked up the shell out of his hand and dropped it in the sand along with something else. I bent down to pick up the shell and the ring and by the time I stood up, he was on his knees asking me to marry him! I was in such disbelief, but so excited that of course I said yes! After that weekend, we continued to be long distance for about just over a year. Bryant finished his service in the marines in November 2014 and moved back to his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. After I graduated from the Universty of Maryland in December 2014 I moved to Birmingham with him and we've been here since, Bryant's going to school at UAB and I'm working at a local dance studio in the area. We're excited and ready to be married in October with all of our family and friends by our sides!
