The end of 2015 was a time of change and growth for Michael and me individually. In early December I told God that I was tired of hearing myself whine to Him about wanting to be in a healthy relationship with a Godly man. I said to God, "You know my heart, and You gave me these desires. I'm surrendering them to you right now. This is not my biggest prayer anymore. I want to fulfill your purpose, and so be enough for me. Satisfy me."
The next day Michael walked into NOLA Church for the first time. I didn't meet him that weekend, but over the next few months I would greet him on Sunday mornings when he walked in.
In February we both joined a Bible study group, and a few weeks in I jokingly admitted that pizza had been my Valentine that year. Later during the same group he mentioned that pizza was his Valentine that year as well. After the group I went to talk/flirt with him because he's handsome and because he understood my pizza story, and a friend interrupted us for a moment.
She came to me and said she needed prayer I said, "Okay, let's pray now. Michael, do you want to pray with us?" He said, "okay," and now we pray together and get to watch GOD do amazing things all the time.
I'm so thankful for the lady who wanted to pray with me that night. I'm thankful that the cute guy from church asked me to have coffee, and now I'm thankful that he asked me to be his wife.
We serve together, lead a small group together and spend time with our friends and family watching movies or playing board games. He loves to eat the foods I cook, which is a great way to get me to continue cooking for him. He's disciplined in areas that I'm not, and I've helped him loosen up in areas in which he's too rigid. We complement each other. We're good for each other.
I can't wait to pray with him, laugh with him, go to sleep with him everyday and enjoy our friends and family with him for a long, long time.
He's sensitive, loving, respectful and godly, and I love him, and I'm so thankful for God's perfect timing. I'm thankful that He worked in us and prepared us for each other, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to spend my life with a man who works hard, fights for resolution instead of fighting to win and whose loyalty to God and to me is already evident in our lives.
No suits allowed...unless you want to wear one, of course.
We'll aim to look nice, but there will be nothing formal about our wedding. Dress comfortably for Louisiana in June, and be photo ready because Kenlie loves selfies (especially on her wedding day!)
My sister is awesome, and I'm so thankful for the role she's playing in our wedding (and in the planning) even though she's in Colorado. My nieces will also be a part of the wedding party along with Michael's niece and nephew.
I've loved her like a sister since I met her, and now she's going to be my sister-in-law.
You can see Jessie next to her too! I'm super excited to have her as my sister-in-law and wedding coordinator too!
Leslie has been a wonderful friend for the last several years, and I'm so honored that she's willing to come all the way from Pebble Beach, CA to be a part of our special day.
Stacie and I work together to create a friendly and encouraging atmosphere at work, and we're also great friends after hours. She's the most even-keeled, Godly friend I've ever had, and I'm so thankful that I get to see her everyday!
