It all began in the most unexpected way—a shoe store. On my days off, I would stop by to visit with my cousin who worked there. He was always around, full of jokes and antics. My first impression? He played way too much. That impression was solidified the day he threw a small football across the store, hitting me in the back of the head. Safe to say, I wasn't impressed.

But life has a funny way of changing your perspective. When I was getting ready to move after graduation, my cousin mentioned him again, speaking highly of his character—how kind and genuine he was. I decided to give him a chance, and that turned out to be the best decision I ever made.

We started dating, despite living in different cities—me in Dallas and him in Monroe. He made the effort to visit almost every weekend, and before long, I realized I had fallen in love with the same man I once dismissed as “playing too much.” His humor was just the beginning; beneath it all was a heart of gold, a quality I adore to this day.

Life took us in different directions, and eventually, the distance became too much. However, we remained close friends. Over the years, he became someone I could talk to about anything and everything.

When I moved back to Louisiana, our friendship blossomed again. As I planned my next steps, I realized I didn't want a future without him in it. We gave love another chance, and this time, it felt even more special.

One of my favorite memories will always be my 35th birthday. He proposed in the most beautiful, thoughtful way, surrounded by my family and friends. I cried knowing I would spend forever with the person who knows me better than anyone.

Our love is built on laughter, shared memories, and, most importantly, our ability to talk about anything. He’s my partner, my best friend, and the greatest gift I never saw coming.

As we begin this next chapter, I am reminded of all the twists and turns that brought us here. I wouldn’t change a single moment because every step led me to him, and together, we’ve created something truly beautiful.
