Our Separate Beginnings…

AudrickBorn in the Philippines in Iligan City as the middle of three children, Audrick would later move to the United States when he was 17. He and his family first settled in Arizona in Casa Grande. He would go on to graduate from Arizona State University for both his Bachelors and Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree (D.N.P.). Shortly after, his family moved to Modesto, California, where they would call their new permanent home. Lan-Uyen (Stephanie)Born in Ventura, California, as the eldest of four children, Stephanie would grow up on the West Coast, only hours from Disneyland/Anaheim. At the age of 7, her family moved up to the South Bay Area, where they would remain to this day, in Morgan Hill, California. She graduated with her Bachelors from the University of California, Davis, and later completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree at Rocky Vista University in Parker, Colorado.

During his DNP studies, Audrick made a choice to take a new path for himself, joining the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant, later advancing to Captain. He completed a 2 month commission officer training in Alabama shortly after joining, and proceeded to receive his first assignment.Little did he know, his very first military assignment would be to the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. This is where he would practice as a family medicine nurse practitioner for the active duty and their families. His very first reaction upon finding out his assignment: Where is Oklahoma?

September 2018 - An Unexpected Assignment

During her 4th year of medical school, Stephanie underwent the age-old process of visiting and interviewing at various residency programs around the country to create her Rank List, which would then decide where she ended up for the next few years after medical school.From her time rotating and visiting programs, she took an unexpected liking to the robust Family Medicine programs outside of California. Because of this, her top choices ended up taking her to the southern regions of the United States, farther away than she had originally planned. On Match Day, she got into one of her top choice programs - Saint Anthony Family Medicine Program in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

June 2020 - An Unexpected Choice

Their first encounter would be through the dating app, Hinge. Stephanie made first contact, charmed by Audrick’s smile. Although they would lose contact for a couple months after the initial messages, Audrick did later reach out to initiate their first date at a the Eote Coffee Shop.Both would describe their first date as awkward, starting off with Audrick standing up as he noticed Stephanie, as if to greet a higher ranking officer in the military. After a brief greeting, she would then quietly make her way to purchase a coffee before sitting back down with him, at the time unsure what else to say/do to quell the awkward air.Despite the initial nervousness, the date went well enough that it lead to a second… third… and many other dates thereafter.

July 2020 - The Hinge Encounter

After Audrick officially asked Stephanie out in Dec 2020, they would continue to grow with each other in the coming years and through many changes and transition periods.Stephanie would go through the trials of Family Medicine residency, graduate, and transition into her first few roles as an attending physician. Audrick, on the other hand, would complete his commitment in the Air Force only to return to school to apply to, and get into medical school for another long career journey. He is now attending Oklahoma State University to become a physician in the future.Their little family would also grow, first starting off with the two of them and Kuon (a miniature American Eskimo), but later growing to include Kubo (Kuon's younger brother) as well as Kumi (a tortoiseshell cat they adopted from a friend). They would find comfort and joy in each others’ shared geekiness - from Audrick’s deep dives into Star Wars or Lord of the Rings lore, to Stephanie’s love for Disney and Kingdom Hearts. And they would also learn to share in and embrace the others’ passions as well - from her finishing the entirety of the Clone Wars series and keeping up with the other Star Wars media, to him having now embracing anime and even having committed to watching the whole of One Piece (now 900+ episodes in!).They also continue to enjoy each others’ company in various travels, across seas as well as discovering a newfound love for car road trips with each other. Even now, they both look forward to their planned road trip home from OKC to CA for the big day!And we also cannot forget about their probably favorite past time together… a love for Pokemon, and in particular, Pokemon Go! You will rarely see them without their handy Pokemon Go Plus+ device when they are out and about!

Dec 2020-July 2024 - Growing Together…

It was meant to be a final “hurrah” roadtrip for the both of them before Audrick began medical school, to both visit familiar faces along the way but also to stop by to visit Stephanie’s brother and sister-in-law in their brand new home in Cleveland, Ohio.Little did she know, after a full day of playing Pokemon Go during the 2024 Global Go Fest event, more familiar faces would be awaiting her as the four of them prepared to go to dinner. Although there were signs that something was a bit off, she still wasn’t prepared for the moments where Audrick would pop the question, as well as a surprise visit from her California friends! Turns out, it had been in the works for months, with Audrick having schemed with not only her family, but also her best friend to come up with the setting.Obvious to say, but she said yes!

July 2024 - The Proposal

With Stephanie starting off her attending life and Audrick still in medical school, there are many unknowns in both of their futures. Whatever those unknowns will be, they hope to tackle them all, together, as a newfound family... and eventually, with additional family members in the near future.For now, they both look forward to seeing all their loved ones from throughout their lives all in one place at one time! It will be an honor to see everyone gather together to celebrate them on January 3, 2026!

Stephanie's one sister - together they are truly like fire and ice. Complete opposites in just about every way, but both carrying their own spark and bite to them! And when the two are together, it's like fitting two different pieces of a puzzle together! 

Nhu-Lan Jacquelyn Nguyen

First met in college while she and Stephanie's brother were just "good friends," but has now since been promoted to amazing sister-in-law, and a wonderful addition to the Nguyen family. :) Now in Cleveland, Ohio, where Stephanie was proposed to! 

Anh Van Bui-Nguyen

Met in college when they were paired up as "Big" and "Little" despite having nothing in common on paper. Somehow, they were compatible enough, though, and have remained close ever since! She flew all the way to Cleveland, Ohio, just for the big proposal! 

Danh Huynh

Met in residency in Oklahoma City, they quickly became close in their new home of 3+ years, and would both go on to become co-chiefs, where they would tag team residency problems and support each other through tough days!

Morgan Van Ameyde

An Oklahoma native when Stephanie began her residency, their first interaction was them affirming that they were both indeed, "sisters." Janelle and Stephanie went through many tough nights together in residency, and likewise their friendship was forged in the fire.

Kha-Ai is Stephanie's cousin, once known as the baby (youngest member) of the family. Now, though, she is far from that and the two have remained close over the years. They always find ways to share in their love of Disney, music, and overall life experiences!

The groom's little sister (and soon to be sister-in-law!). She and Stephanie hit if off easily when they met, owing to her incredibly friendly, fun, and open minded nature! One of the first memories they have together is of dragging her into driving them around town to play Pokemon Go!
