Accomodations

Princeville is a community of time shares and hotels. Many of them are available via Hotels.com, Kayak, or Airbnb and are within walking distance of each other. We will be staying at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resorts while our families will be staying in Airbnb houses close by.

Once you book your accommodations, please let Lauren know where you are staying so that we can make sure everyone has a place to stay. If you are having trouble finding a place or want to know some more information, please do not hesitate to ask us for help. We have a local wedding planner just for this reason.

Air Travel and Transportation
Air Travel

Lihue Airport (LIH) is the largest airport on the island and has the most commercial flights. LIH offers direct flights to several United States mainland destinations, Vancouver, Honolulu and Kahului. Airlines that service LIH include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, go!, Hawaiian Airlines, Island Air, United Airlines, US Airways and WestJet. LIH is a rather small airport; most of the airport is un-walled, and passengers check in for their flights outside.

LIH is on the south side of the island. If you want to get the full range of the island, you may want to stay on the south side of the island for a few days after you arrive, checking out the sites down there, then make it to the north side in time for the events.

Transportation

Because you will be arriving on the south side, and all of the events are on the north side, you will most likely need to get a rental car. There are plenty of rental companies at LIH (Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and National). Their phone numbers can be found here.

There is no public transportation, Uber or Lyft on Kauai so the rental car is pretty much the only way visitors gets around the island. However, if you have been drinking, there are options for cabs on the island.

Kauai Taxi Company: 808.246.9554

North Shore Cab Company: 808.639.7829

Kauai Island Shuttle: 808.634.5737

Kalalau Trail Hike and Drinks
Thursday, January 25, 2018
9:00 AM
Kalalau Trail, Kapaa, HI, United States

We will be hiking Kalalau Trail along Kauai's Na Pali coast. We anticipate getting to the trailhead around 9:00 AM and will be back around 4:00 PM. From there, anyone who wishes to grab a beer and some food can meet us at Bar Acuda at 5:30 PM.

There are a few options on this trail depending upon how much of a workout you want. The full trail is 11 miles and takes around 9 hours to hike in (generally a hike in, camp, hike out the next day hike). Most of us will be doing the 4 mile version that takes about 3 hours each way and turns around at Hanakapi'ai Falls. And for a more relaxing option, there is a 2 mile version that take about 1.5 hours each way and turns around at Hanakapi'ai Beach.

NOTE: Pack your own lunch, snacks, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
