Ours started like every modern day love story - on a dating app. Chris commented on my Hinge prompt of loving bottomless brunch, piña coladas and getting caught in the rain - which he was quick to point out 2/3 wasn’t bad.
Soon came our first date at Offshore Rooftop at Navy Pier, and as fate would have it, I was running late after getting caught in the rain. If you ask Chris, I looked cute, if a little wet. If you ask me, I looked like a drowned rat. However, after 3 hours of laughing and talking like we were already great friends, we quickly agreed to a 2nd date and the rest was history.
Fast forward 3 years, and once again rain would prove to be a blessing for us. We took a trip to Traverse City, Michigan for (what I thought) was a trip to get away before I started a new job and so our new fur baby Knox could join. We had planned to hike along the Mission Point Lighthouse, but a massive rainstorm would deter those plans. Still wanting to enjoy our trip, we saw it as a fun opportunity to tour the wineries and breweries, --ensuring all were Knox-friendly places.
Little did I know Chris was nervously carrying a small secret and constantly checking the weather if it would clear. We got lucky - the rain stopped briefly for an hour of sunshine, which left us with a secluded beach to watch the sunset where Chris asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. As we laughed and enjoyed the moment, the weather soon decided to change once again and we found ourselves drenched, but ecstatic for this next chapter.
We’re so excited to share our upcoming special day with all of our friends and family, and we couldn’t be more excited for June 2025 to come! Keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine, but even if not, we’ve found rain is a good thing.
