All throughout Lexi's freshman and early sophomore years at Baylor, she saw the same boy seemingly everywhere on campus. They took the same routes to class, studied in the same library, attended the same church, and he even reffed her intramural soccer games. Simply put, he was inescapable (but Lexi was not complaining). He was easily identifiable in a crowd, because he always had his camo backpack. Lexi and her roommates dubbed him "Camo Backpack Guy," and began texting each other whenever there was a sighting on campus (which was often).

During the first year and a half of seeing him around, Lexi never mustered up the courage to talk to him. That is, until one day in the spring semester of her sophomore year. Camo Backpack Guy was randomly assigned to fill in for a volunteer at Highland Baptist Church's Kids Foundation on a Wednesday night. Lexi had been a weekly Kids Foundation leader for a few months, and was not expecting to see Camo Backpack Guy make an appearance in this context. She knew that if he was there again the next week, she simply had to introduce herself. Sure enough, he showed up the following week. Lexi ended up waiting until she saw him in a campus library a couple of days later to officially make introductions. She learned that Camo Backpack Guy's name was Brendan. The two of them became casual acquaintances, chatting at Kids Foundation each week and whenever they bumped into each other on campus.

The time came for Lexi to find a date to her sorority's formal. After discussing every possible outcome with her roommates, she decided to ask Brendan. Much to her surprise, not only did he say yes, he also flipped the question and asked if she'd like to go on a date before the formal. Their first date was April 24, 2022. They got Sonic drinks, sat in the Cinemark lobby talking for an hour, and saw "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent." Formal followed on April 30th (photo above). Flash forward through many picnics, runs to McLane Stadium, movie nights, and mini golf dates; Brendan proposed on December 7th, 2024 in front of Armstrong Browning Library on Baylor's campus. Brendan and Lexi are so excited for their next chapter, and can't wait to have you celebrate it with them!
