Our Story
The Proposal

On August 16th, 2015, Jacob took Liz on a "surprise road trip". She had no clue what the big surprise was or where they were going. All he did was tell her to wear an outfit for hiking and to bring a nice outfit to change into for dinner. As they closed in on the city limits, Liz realized they were headed towards Austin, TX. Jacob confirmed that was where they would be but still wouldn't reveal any of his plans for the day. They began their day with lunch on South Congress. Jacob then drove them out to McKinney Falls State Park and they hiked out to one of the falls. They sat on a blanket, listened to music, and just enjoyed one another's company for a few hours. Liz was a little suspicious at this point because Jacob was acting nervous. However, they packed up, changed into their dinner attire, and headed back into downtown. They parked in a parking garage on 7th Street and walked about a block to Perry's Steakhouse where Jacob had made reservations for them. The manager greeted them and escorted them back to a table off by itself. After a tasty (and filling) meal, Jacob asked if Liz wanted dessert. She responded, "No way!" He ordered it anyway. Liz was noticing Jacob getting really antsy when she heard the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perry begin to play overhead. They have always referred to that as their song. The waiter dropped off a plate with three desserts right in front of Liz. It took her a couple of seconds to realize that the dessert in the middle wasn't, in fact, a dessert at all. It was a ring box. As fast as it all happened, Liz turned to her left to see Jacob down on one knee. Teary-eyed but with a big smile on his face, he took the ring out of the box and asked her to marry him. Without hesitation she said, "YES!" Jacob then proceeded to slip her dream ring on her finger. It was a beautiful (and long-awaited) day for the high school sweethearts!
