Some background on our adventure:
Shane's Bieberish hair won me over in high school. Of course my socially awkward self caught his eye (when he had his hair pushed to the side so he could see). Yes, high school sweethearts here! After high school we had four years of that tough thing in relationships they call "long distance". We punched the stigma of long distance relationships in the face may I add. 8 years later and we're still together friends. Any who, Shane gets a cool job in Maryland while I had one more year before adult life. So add on another long distance year, again just killed it. Skipping some boring details in between, I got a job in MD, moved out here in August of 2015, and we now live in the best townhouse on our block.
Okay, so the engagement part:
Shane insisted I came out to visit a weekend in June 2015, little did I know that he had more planned than touring DC for the twelfth time. He made me change out of my sweatpants and put an actual dress on, took me out for a nice dinner, and then we went back to the apartment. Yes, you read that correctly we went back to the apartment. It was bachelorette Monday so I of course turned the tv on and found my spot on the couch. Girl needed to know who Kaitlyn picked that week. Shane wanted wine (boy loves his wine) so he went to the store. Dude came back with wine, pink moscato to be exact. Made a pit stop and picked up red roses, plopped them on the table in front of me with my beautiful ring tied to a bow. Hold back the tears y'all. I did say yes even with the brief interruption to the bachelorette. Rumor has it that his original plan was to propose in front of the Lincoln Memorial, we were both just too lazy to go into DC after we ate our weight in real food. Good thing that fell through because I would've peed myself in front of Abe. So everyone give Shane a big thumbs up for his proposal, because on a serious note I will never forget it. Now we're busy planning a rager where I once again have to put on a dress. We're so excited for our wedding and can't wait to celebrate our adventure with you all! Make sure to wear your party pants.
