No matter which route you take, please observe the speed limit in Vermont and particularly on the road between Rutland and Killington and from Killington to Woodstock. Police patrol those roads constantly (especially on holiday weekends) and do not hesitate to hand out speeding tickets. Those with out-of-state plates are particularly vulnerable.
Mountain Meadows property is open to all wedding guests throughout the weekend. They have a lake, kayaks and canoes, lawn games, hikes, animals, and a bar. :)
On Friday and Saturday Killington Mountain usually has its annual ski swap sale where you can get great bargains on new and used ski and snowboarding equipment etc.
This Saturday is also Killington's Harvest Faire at the mountain. There's live music, horse drawn hay rides, bounce house, apple launching (our favorite) and stein hoisting (much harder than it seems). Local chefs will be serving some of their fall food offerings. Food ticket (4 tickets) $30. Check out their Adventure Center featuring zip lines, obstacle challenge and lots more. For more details and event times go to www.killington.com.
Or take the gondola to the top of Killington Mountain for spectacular views.
Hike to the Thundering Brook waterfall right off of the Mountain Meadows resort. It's only about a 30 min walk to this hidden gem! :) Or you can view the falls after a short walk on a wooden walkway accessed from River Road.
Long Trail Brewery is only about 15-20 mins away from Mountain Meadow Lodge. Great beer, good food, and right on the Long trail and River.
Sugar and Spice is by far our favorite quaint Vt breakfast spot. So delicious! It's also a maple sugaring site so you can get fresh maple syrup here.
Great food, beers, and awesome atmosphere in this Train Car themed restaurant.
Small museum housing history, memorabilia and prints of Norman Rockwell. Word has it that they're closing so this may be the last chance to enjoy it.

Woodstock is a quaint typical New England town, located about half hour east of Killington on route 4. There are lots of shops and restaurants and that weekend it's having its Apples and Crafts Fair. Also, it is a Harvest Weekend at Billings Farm.
