Our Story

Our Story (Marissa's Version)

I first heard about Andy through a mutual friend who also happened to be one of my coworkers at the time. I let the friend know I was interested and we planned out that I would be his scribe for his eye exam so that I could meet him in person. After that appointment, Andy and I exchanged numbers and started dating. Our first date was July 3rd 2022 and was at 3 Joes restaurant. One of my favorite memories is when Andy came to pick me up for the date he parked at the wrong house so I had to run over to the neighbor’s house before he got to the door. After the first date, I anxiously waited for him to text me asking to go on a second date. I decided to take matters into my own hands and reach out to him first saying that I had a great night. Andy got the hint and asked me out for a second date. I had a feeling Andy was the one pretty early on because he was the kindest most generous person I had ever met. I remember when we first said I love you to each other, we were talking about the New York Times - The 36 Questions That Lead To Love. One of the questions was, “If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone?” Andy told me that he would regret not telling me that he loved me. Our love story continued and we eventually got a dog together and named him Pippin. Jumping forward to May 28th 2023, Andy proposed to me in front of what will be our first home together in Piqua. I obviously said YES! So, here we are today excited as ever to begin our life together and celebrate with all our friends and family!

I met Marissa just over two years ago. We were setup by a roommate who really thought that we would hit it off. The first time I saw Marissa was when she did my eye exam at Primary Eyecare. I was so nervous because she was way out of my league and I didn’t think I had a chance with her. I was so nervous throughout the eye exam and I really didn’t talk to her much. Marissa eventually asked for my snapchat and we began to snapchat each other pretty constantly. Eventually we agreed to go on a date at 3 joes in Piqua. I mentally prepared for this date for around a week involving many many pep talks into my bathroom mirror and a deep deep cleaning of my car. When the day arrived I was very nervous, as I pulled into her driveway I was still nervous but very excited to finally see her. I sat in the driveway for around a minute and then noticed Marissa coming out from the house next door..... I had pulled into the wrong driveway. Marissa then came over and got into my car. I’m pretty sure the entire way to Piqua I just apologized. The first date didn’t go much different from our first meeting. I was too shy to say much and we just sat in silence for most of the date. The only memorable thing I said was mentioning how my sister was having people over to watch fireworks, but I somehow managed to invite and then uninvite Marissa to this as I thought it would be awkward. As I dropped off Marissa at her house, I just kept thinking about how I had ruined the date and was almost positive that she wouldn’t be wanting a second date. I went to my parent’s house after the date where my sister and some of my friends were watching fireworks. My sister had bought two bottles of wine thinking that I would be bringing Marissa back to watch the fireworks. I began drinking the first bottle out of pure sorrow thinking how I had ruined a really good date with the cutest and nicest person that I had ever met. I had just finished the first bottle when I then got a text from Marissa thanking me for dinner and saying that she had a great time. At first I was just thinking that she was being nice and responded with a simple “I did too!”. I then decided to take a chance and apologized if the date was awkward due to me and asked for a second date. Thankfully Marissa said yes, and that was the beginning of what has been the happiest time of my life. All of the adventures I have had with Marissa from going to weddings and having someone to dance with, seeing Taylor Swift at PayCor Stadium, or even the endless trips to Target or Trader Joes, I can genuinely say that I have never been happier. This is also why I was so happy and just couldn’t wait to get down on one knee a day before my birthday last year and I was so happy that she said yes!
