On the morning of May 1st, 2014 Mark wrote the following first message to Tal on OKCupid.com:
"No matter how much I'm tempted to propose immediately after reading your profile, I'll have to restrain myself for now and just suggest getting acquainted over a drink some time."
Months passed.... and Mark thought that he surely should have written something more clever or perhaps she just wasn't very impressed by the photos he posted of himself (the later turned out to be true).
Finally, on December 17th, a whole 7 and a half month later, Tal finally responded!!! (By then Mark had updated his photos to his apparently more appealing full bearded look).
After attempting to play it cool over the next few exchanges, they finally decided to meet. She suggested getting together over beers and donuts - a date plan both unique and quintessentially Tal. That specific date wouldn't happen for a while, but Mark wanted to meet as soon as possible, so he headed to Harlem to take Tal on the fanciest first date she'd ever experienced.
T'was Christmas day 2014 when these two Jews first met in person, and the rest is history....
