McKenzie and Lennon first met on one of the popular dating apps of 2020, Hinge. After talking for about a week, they went on their first date, a walk behind McKenzie's apartment in March of 2020. That date lasted 3 hours as they walked the Monan Trail! After a few more dates through online Euchre games and Netflix movies apart, the two made their relationship official on June 22, 2020.

Come August 2020 Lennon and McKenzie took their first road trip to South Bend where Lennon met McKenzie's college friend Paige and her then fiance Peter. That trip is when they said "I love you" for the first time!
