Our Story

The Beginning

This story is a classic. It all began when Nate and Jordan both decided to attend OBU. While at college, they were part of the same friend group, which helped them get to know each other a little bit. It wasn't until their good friend Sunrise decided to play match maker that their relationship got real. Sunrise brought to Nate's attention that Jordan would be a good match for him, and after some thought, Nate decided to go for it. One day Nate sees Jordan sitting alone in the Geiger Center on campus, and he finally builds up enough courage to say something. Nate strikes up a conversation, and it doesn't take long for him to realize that they would be great for each other, so he asks Jordan on their first date, which was four days away. During those four days, Nate and Jordan spent quality time getting to know each other more. They eventually go on their first date, and afterwards, they both realized that this was meant to be. Nate asks Jordan to be his girlfriend, using a love song he wrote, "Take My Hand." Of course, she says yes, and their adventure begins.

The Proposal

After a month and a half of dating, Nate asks Jordan's parents for their blessing, and after they say yes, Nate spends the next month and a half planning and organizing the perfect proposal. He puts together a surprise proposal and engagement party at Jordan's home church in Bartlesville OK on July 22nd, 2017 (Jordan's 20th birthday). The day of, Jordan drives to Bartlesville to spend her birthday with her parents and siblings, not knowing that Nate has gathered many friends and family members at the church building, waiting for Jordan's arrival. She thinks it is a normal day until the family decided to go to lunch. Instead of going to a restaurant, Jordan's dad drives her to the church and makes her go inside. She walks into the sanctuary of the church and sees Nate alone on stage playing his guitar, and tears immediately fall from her eyes. Nate begins to play their song "Take My Hand", then asks Jordan to marry him. She responds with a resounding, "Of course!" Friends and family rush into the sanctuary from a separate entrance, cheering and celebrating. Then the party begins!
