Our Story
Introducing LawConnect

The Board of Directors of CLEO and OJEN invite you to join us in celebrating the launch of LawConnect Ontario. Through LawConnect, Ontarians will find relevant and effective public legal education and information (PLEI), ranging from justice system education, legal information resources, and programs to support the development and delivery of effective PLEI.

LawConnect will build on the recent co-location of CLEO and OJEN, and will see improved coordination in PLEI services and programs. People in Ontario – including people in low-income and disadvantaged communities served by CLEO, and youth and supporting adults served by OJEN – will have access to higher-quality and increased public legal education programs and legal information resources. LawConnect will also involve and support other legal and non-legal organizations that provide PLEI to their communities.

As CLEO and OJEN come together to form LawConnect, they will remain as independent organizations with their own mandates and governance structures, but will coordinate their work and services more closely. LawConnect will offer a continuum of services and expertise to educate people in Ontario – from young to elderly, from diverse communities – about justice, the legal system, and their legal rights. At the same time, LawConnect will embrace and support the PLEI work being done by our community and justice system partners, including community legal clinics; schools and learning institutions; government offices, tribunals and courts; and associations of legal professionals, teachers, and other related professions.

CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario/Éducation juridique communautaire Ontario) receives long-term funding from Legal Aid Ontario, The Law Foundation of Ontario, and the Department of Justice Canada.

OJEN (Ontario Justice Education Network/Réseau ontarien d'éducation juridique) receives long-term funding from The Law Foundation of Ontario and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
