Hi everyone! This is Aleksandra, one of Rae’s best friends and I am blessed to be her maid of honor on her and Jake's special day. I get to do something exciting, share their crazy and love filled journey of their relationship as it built into spending the rest of their lives together as one.
During high school, Rae would always talk to me about how she didn't believe in true love like you see in the movies.. No matter how much her friends and I told her it will come, her mindset wasn’t budging. Well… not until she met Jacob Mullin.
Rae and Jake met on September 22 nd , 2018. SIX years ago. A group of Rae and I’s friends got invited to a party where there would be people a little older than us in Romeo. Apologies to Rae's mom.. not sure if you knew this.. but we thought we were so cool getting an invite to hang out with a group of people older than us!
When we arrived, we had such a great time meeting new people and our group started to separate around the room. But, of course, Rae and I were always by each other’s sides. We stumbled upon a group of guys and started chit chatting. This was Rae and Jakes first.EVER.encounter.
As we started talking to them, I realized that one of the guys was really trying to catch someone’s attention. Talking about how strong he was and that he was in the ROTC. This was Jake Mullin, grabbing the attention of Rae in a funny, yet cute, way. And boy, did it start working towards Rae’s heart.
From the start, they both were extremely comfortable with each other. Even doing cartwheels around the room, not caring what anybody thought! Since this night they have not spent one day without each other. (unless the military had other plans but most days if we are getting technical)
Fast forward two weeks later, Jake asked Rae to be his girlfriend with a trunk full of flowers and chocolates. It didn’t take Jake too long to realize the woman he had just randomly stumbled upon.
Throughout their relationship while Rae was finishing high school, we all knew that Rae and Jake would end up getting married. Whenever they had the time, they were together, and I just had never seen Rae that happy. Jake was always super sweet and caring, not only to Rae, but to all her friends and family as well. With Jakes patience and words, he had shown Rae during this time to not be afraid of love and what it has to offer.
Now in college (where Rae went to Grand Valley in Grand Rapids), majority of their time together was spent long distance. In the beginning, Rae and Jake called each other ALL the time. They both prioritized visiting each other no matter what. Rae loved showing Jake where she was studying, partying, and finding what career she wanted to strive in. He ALWAYS supported her and pushed her to finish school even on her worst days. Although I always knew that her and Jake were endgame, there was one specific instance where it completely solidified.
Rae and Jake got into some argument during our freshman year, while Jake was at home in the east side of Michigan. Rae was super upset all day, and nothing that I could do would cheer her up. I expressed this to Jake, and he drove that same day all the way to our dorm (a 3-hour drive) just to work it all out. Even though he was supposed to visit literally days later. Jake refused to let Rae stay upset until then. ON TOP of that, Jake also brought me a McChicken, per my request! Now THAT is when I knew this man was her husband.
After 4 years of long distance, which Rae HATED by the way, Rae finished college and moved in with Jake in Ohio, as he was stationed there. And as all of you know, last year Jake was stationed to Vegas, where they currently are at. Never in my life have I seen how happy, glowing, and at peace Rae is being with Jake. To this day, These two show nothing but pure love, partnership, care, and guidance. May their marriage continue to be as their relationship is:
beautiful, passionate, wholesome, caring, and maybe just a little bit crazy.
