Our parents introduced us around 6 years ago at The Gathering and we became quick friends. Because I (Jason) was in school at Mississippi State and Rebekah was at LSU we could only hang out together when we were both in town visiting our parents. A year or so later, Rebekah started medical school in Jackson and I got to see her more often when I was home. We would have dinner dates at The Bulldog and Buffalo Wild Wings. I knew quickly this girl was perfect because she loved beer, wings, sports, and Game of Thrones. This went on for a few years until I graduated from Mississippi State and moved back home. We were beginning to hang out a lot more and finally I had my chance to ask her out. I jumped at the opportunity because I knew there was something special about this girl and man was I right. We started dating (to both of our parents overwhelming approval) and we both quickly realized that we had found the one. I told her that no matter where her residency took her, I would be there. In March of 2020, we learned that we would be moving to Orlando for Rebekah to complete her residency. We were excited but I wanted Rebekah to know that not only was I moving with her, I wanted to spend my life with her. So on April 1st, 2020, during the height of the COVID pandemic, we went for a walk around Lake Caroline. Afterwards, I asked Rebekah to get us a glass of wine where she found a wine glass with “Will you marry me?” etched into it. I got down on one knee and she said yes! We have been living in Orlando now for the past few months and we cannot wait to celebrate our marriage with our friends and family in May.
