Share a brief story of you when and how you met Roshdieh:

In 2006, I decided to try out for Ambassador at LSU.  On the day of tryouts Roshdieh and I ended up being in a group and we had no idea what was going on.  Within a month or so I believe we were in the LSU union around same time grabbing lunch.  We ran into each other and ever since than we became friends.  The rest is being written in history books.

Share your fondest memory with Roshdieh:

On LSU game days we use to walk a few miles to the football stadium.  While we were walking we would make up crazy accents  from different cultures which made the conversations hilarious.

If you were with Roshdieh at the moment, most likely, what would you guys be doing?

Eating some kind of chicken

Any advice for Abir and Roshdieh regarding the future?

Have lots and lots of babies!

Share a brief story of when and how you met Roshdieh:

Roshdieh and I met through a mutual, middle school friend in Natchitoches, LA.

Share your fondest memory with Roshdieh:

It’s hard to choose! We’ve traveled to Austin and spent many times just talking about life over a delicious meal. One of my fondest memories of the bride was completing a 10k together. That’s 6.2 miles of walking and some running. It was both our first 10k ever! I’ll admit, we hadn’t really trained for it, but we still made it through together! To make the situation a little tougher, it was cold, rainy, and foggy throughout the entire race. Even though we didn’t place, we completed it together and motivated each other throughout the entire process.

If you were with Roshdieh at this moment, most likely, what would guys be doing?

If I were with the bride, we’d be singing Ed Sheeran’s “Barcelona” at the top of our lungs while we eat some type of delicious Asian food, or ideally, we’d be traveling overseas somewhere.

Any advice for Abir and Roshdieh regarding the future?

Throughout your marriage, always continue dating each other. Take time out of the week just to remind each other how special you feel about one another. Small things like flowers say so much! Most importantly, always communicate about anything and everything no matter how small.

Share a Brief Story of how you met Roshdieh:

I met Roshdieh while working for the same company in midland, Texas. We shared company housing. After 3 days of knowing Roshdieh we took a road trip to Dallas, Texas to meet her best friends Kathryn and Rhesa. In those 5 hours of driving, we meshed so well. Our friendship has only grown since. I am so glad I met Roshdieh, because she is such a genuine and caring person.

Share your fondest memory with Roshdieh:

All of them! I love to call Roshdieh for advice. She is always there for me.

But honestly my favorite is that road trip to Dallas. It felt like I met my female soulmate.

If you were with Roshdieh at this moment, most likely, what would you guys be doing?

If I was with the bride or groom right now, we would most likely be eating somewhere. Hahaah.... Roshdieh and I are such foodies.

Any advice for Abir and Roshdieh regarding the future?

I would say “don’t take life too seriously. Enjoy both of your lives and have fun with each other. Kids will come soon enough, so you should travel and enjoy each other’s company while you are both young.”

Roshdieh was the first friend I made when I moved to Louisiana. We had met many years ago, but were reintroduced at the Mosque in Ramadan. We bonded at the community iftars and became fast friends. It was a special Ramadan for both of us!

Share a brief story of you when and how you met Roshdieh:

We met while taking undergraduate classes at LSU. It was a huge world geography class, and I felt very overwhelmed by the amount of people. Roshdieh sat next to me, and I just remember thinking how stylish and cool she looked. The professor asked us to get into groups and we started talking, and the rest is history!

Share your fondest memory with Roshdieh:

At LSU, I remember one night we had an impromptu pizza party where we tried making our own pizzas in the middle of studying for tests and exams for the week. I couldn't cook to save my life at the time, so I relied on her so much to help me with such a seemingly simple dish. I just remember we laughed so much that night because we were both able to be silly and be ourselves.

Eating awesome food! Seriously, you know all of the best places in town, Roshdieh!

Abir got me into the musical group Above and Beyond - a couple of us met up for a show at Roseland Ballroom in New York City in 2013. Carter Somerville - Groomsman

Hometown: Long Island, NY

Occupation: Graduate student

Current residence: Queens (we'll go with that, even though it's a lie)

Share a brief story of how and when you met Abir:

I met Abir during freshman year at Case. We were on the same floor in our dorm building. He was fun. One word to describe how we met would be "Staley." Because that was the building we lived in. It was called Staley.

Share your fondest memory with Abir:

I've been to a lot of places with Abir, had a lot of delicious food, and listened to a lot of music. But my favorite memories are from the little moments between the big planned-out marquee events. Like the times eating Halal Guys in Manhattan at 4 AM, or when we tried on cowboy boots in Nashville, or just this year when we were talking to strangers in the vestibule outside a Pho restaurant in Boston. I love killing time with Abir because he always makes things fun.

If you were with Abir at this moment, most likely, what would you guys be doing?

If Abir and I were together right now, we'd probably be in an Airbnb in a city both of us are visiting for the first time, playing video games while we wait to call an Uber to bring us to a restaurant that's really highly rated on Yelp, where we'll have dinner before we go out to some sort of fun nightlife event like a comedy show or a concert. Or maybe we'd just be napping.

Any advice for Abir and Roshdieh regarding the future?

Don't stop dating your spouse. Communicate. Spread joy. Vote. Wear your seat belt. Take a vacation at least once a year. Read more. Be honest and straightforward. Don't litter. Choose to be happy. Compliment each other. Keep the faith. Know where the nearest exits are. Ask your boss for a raise. See both sides of every issue. Don't try to be different people, but be willing to change. Donate to charity. Use the five love languages. Take criticism and praise with grace. Swim. Do new things. Never be embarrassed for liking something. Practice good dental hygiene. Reload. Did I mention communicate? Don't stop learning. Go to a Lightning game. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Take care of your bodies. Don't believe the hype. Let someone else win. Bring lunch from home. Check the batteries on your smoke detector. Don't play as Genji. Ask for help. Communicate.

Share a brief story of your fondest memory with Abir:

When I was in graduate school in Columbus, OH, Abir was coming up to the city from WV for a show.  He let me know and we met up and had pizza and great conversation with my then girlfriend Stephanie.  It was an awesome time.  Abir has always prioritized his relationships and this was a great example of that.

If you were with the Abir at this moment,  most likely, what would  you guys be doing?

Either trying out a new restaurant with good reviews online... or playing some games.

Any advice for Abir and Roshdieh regarding the future?

Marriage is a two-way street, and as such most think it is an even 50-50 split.  But life, work and family will come in a complicate things!  To best deal with this it is best to go above that split and both give 60%.  Know that life isn't even, and when you or your partner fail to reach that 60% you will still have each others back. You will already be giving that little bit extra that makes the hard times easier, and the good times great.  Remember you are a team, and I think this plays into that.

Compromise is the key to any relationship. Your marriage will have highs and lows, but always remember you two are partners and can accomplish/overcome anything together! Be honest with each other and always keep each other laughing :)
