On a sunny Sunday in April of 2021, Sam was hanging out with friends at the pool of her Penn Ave apartment complex. Later that afternoon, Ridge came down to the pool with a couple of his buddies to soak up the sun. After laying out on the lounge chairs, Ridge decided to hop in the pool (where Sam was). They got chatting about everything and anything but mostly bonded over their time spent at the University of Delaware.
Some of Ridge's family members came over to enjoy the day. Ridge's niece was instantly ready to get in the pool with him. He caught her when she wanted to jump in and guided her around the pool all afternoon. Sam immediately adored their interactions and was in awe of their sweet relationship.
As Sam was getting ready to leave, they decided they would meet up later that week for some Cinco de Mayo festivities.
On December 16th, 2023, Sam and Ridge were headed to New York City for a weekend getaway. What has traditionally been a Moser family weekend in the past, Ridge convinced Sam that his family wasn't able to join that weekend. After driving into the city and checking into their hotel, they quickly changed in the hotel restaurant bathroom to go explore the city. First and foremost, coffee! Sam found a quaint coffee shop, Masseria Caffe and Bakery, where they sat and enjoyed coffee & pastries. Then they started making their way toward the Rockefeller tree. They snapped some pictures at the tree then started shopping on Fifth Ave. After a few stores, Ridge suggested they go for a walk in Central Park.
The birds were chirping and the sun was shining, making for the most perfect December day. They walked to the Bow Bridge and stepped onto the little platform in front of the water. Ridge suggested they take a selfie and little did Sam know she was moments away from a proposal. After Sam made it clear she did not care for the selfie they took, Ridge asked if they could take a "better one" as he proceeded to get down on one knee.
After Sam said YES, a photographer announced he was there for them and started taking even more pictures. When Sam looked over to her right, Ridge had yet another surprise waiting for her. Family members from both sides came running down the hill, smiling ear to ear. They took more pictures and shared some tears, hugs and laughs. As photos went on, a group of students and adults gathered around the bridge cheering, snapping pictures and congratulating the newly engaged couple.
After making their way out of Central Park, they stumbled upon a little Italian place, Pappardella, with an outdoor tent. They sat and chatted for hours about all the behind the scene proposal details over lots and lots of champagne!
