It's funny how things work out. Shamara and Harrison had been good friends throughout high school, but it wasn't until the their senior year when they started dating. They had been in Ms. Westbrook's African American History for a while, exchanging love notes and learning about the Harlem Renaissance, when Harrison finally mustered up enough courage to ask Shamara out on a date. On November 28, 2008, they went to one of their soon to be favorite restaurants, Chipotle, and enjoyed a night filled with laughter, deep discussion, and even a few tears (Chipotle steak is hotter than you think). Little did they know, they were about to embark on a journey together that would exceed both of their expectations. Although they went on attend rival universities (Shamara-Hampton University and Harrison-Howard University), they stayed committed to one another, while racking up miles with frequent trips from DC to Hampton and vice versa.

"For I know the plans I have for you, 'Declare The Lord,' plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."- Jeremiah 29:11
